3rd Day of Sub-Division Level 80th Independence Day Celebration Held at Yangang

Yangang, August 9, 2026:third day of the Sub-Division Level 80th Independence Day Celebration 2026 is being held at PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School Yangang. R.K. Basnet Chairman of IFFCO gracing the programme as the Chief Guest.

As part of the celebration Chief Guest also participated in a plantation drive under the theme “Mero Rukh, Mero Santati”, highlighting the importance of environmental conservation and tree plantation for future generations.

The main attraction of the day is the Inter-School Under-14 Boys’ Football Tournament, featuring schools from the surrounding area.

In the first match, Neya Secondary School defeated East Point School 1–0.

In the second match, Yangang Senior Secondary School secured a convincing 6–0 victory over Sripatam Junior High School.

Bobby's Gym Lifts Gym Champions Trophy of the 1st Inter Gym Futsal Tournament 2026

The 1st Inter Gym Futsal Tournament 2026, organised by Ultimate Fitness Gym Tadong in collaboration with Shangri-La Event Management, concluded on a high note with an exciting and closely contested final between Bobby’s Gym and Ultimate Fitness Gym.

In a thrilling finale, Bobby’s Gym lifted the championship title after securing a 3–2 win against Ultimate Fitness Gym, with the final outcome decided in their favour. Both teams displayed tremendous skill, determination and sportsmanship, providing an action-packed finale for the spectators.

The closing ceremony was graced by Shri Tenzing Dorjee Bhutia, Chairman, SIMFED, Government of Sikkim, as the Chief Guest. The event also welcomed Shri Pema WD. Bhutia as the Guest of Honour, along with Shri Diwas Thapa, Government Contractor, and Miss Tshering Bhutia as Special Guests.

The tournament also recognised outstanding individual performances:

Player of the Tournament: Mr. Ambrose Diyali of Ultimate Fitness Gym with 5 goals and 5 assists.
Golden Glove: Mr. Biki Manger, goalkeeper of Ultimate Fitness Gym with least number of goals conceded.
Highest Goal Scorer: Mr. Pranay Chettri from Demazong Fitness Gym with total of 9 goals in his favour.
Man of the Match – Final: Mr. Bhim Chettri — Goalkeeper of Bobby’s Gym.

The dignitaries congratulated both finalists and applauded all the participating teams for their outstanding performances, discipline and spirit throughout the tournament. They also appreciated the organisers for providing a platform that brings together athletes and fitness communities from across Sikkim.

The tournament which started from 3rd August 2026 witnessed enthusiastic participation from 16 various gyms and fitness clubs, with every match showcasing competitive futsal, teamwork and a strong sense of camaraderie.

The organisers extended their heartfelt gratitude to all the participating teams, players, officials, volunteers, supporters, guests and well-wishers who contributed to the successful completion of the tournament.

The tournament concluded with a celebration of fitness, friendship, teamwork and sportsmanship, setting the stage for an even bigger and better edition in the future.

Free Ambulance Service Launched for Senior Citizens and Economically Disadvantaged in Soreng

An ambulance dedicated to providing free emergency and medical transportation services to senior citizens and economically disadvantaged residents of Soreng District was launched earlier today.

The ambulance was formally handed over to the Zilla Member of Malbasey-Budang by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay in the presence of MLA Shri Aditya Golay.

The initiative aims to make essential healthcare services more accessible to vulnerable sections of society, particularly senior citizens and economically disadvantaged residents who may face difficulties in accessing timely medical transportation.

The launch marks another step towards strengthening community-based healthcare support and ensuring that those in need can access emergency and medical services without the burden of transportation costs.

The Tourism & Civil Aviation Department, Government of Sikkim, informs that a meeting has been scheduled under the chairmanship of the Hon'ble Chief Minister with all concerned stakeholders and the executive bodies of Tourism Stakeholders Associations. to discuss the proposed Online Single Window Integrated Permit System.

The meeting will be held on 18th August, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Manan Bhawan, Gangtok.
The primary objective of the meeting is to deliberate in detail on the proposed Online Single Window Integrated Permit System, which is aimed at streamlining and modernising the existing permit processes.
The forum will also provide an opportunity for stakeholders to raise any doubts, seek clarifications, and offer constructive suggestions regarding the proposal.

All concerned stakeholders and the executive bodies of Tourism Stakeholders Associations including but not limited to, TASS, SATO, SUTO, ASTHA, SHRA, Bikers Rental Association of Sikkim, Homestay and Hotel Owners, all luxury vehicles, J series and T series taxi drivers cm owners' association of Sikkim, have been invited to attend the meeting and actively participate in the discussions so that their valuable inputs can be considered in the further development of the system.

EAST SIKKIM — Recent reports of a bear sighting in the Changa area of East Sikkim have prompted safety concerns among residents. In light of the incident, authorities and wildlife experts are emphasizing the critical need for proper waste management to avoid dangerous human-wildlife encounters.

Bears are frequently drawn to human settlements by the scent of unmanaged garbage and discarded food waste. To prevent attracting these wild animals to residential zones, locals are strongly urged to properly dispose of their household waste and ensure that the perimeters of their homes remain completely clean and free of refuse.
