Recalling her formative years, she speaks of growing up close to nature and a simpler time, with education and playtime taking centre stage.

Words have power, and Suprabha Sharma understands what they can make possible. Among the many ways she works towards empowering girls, Rhetoric Sessions offer a space for something as simple, yet significant, as learning to speak about oneself.

In a world where women have often been expected to turn the attention away from themselves, these sessions invite girls to do the opposite: to find their voice, claim their space, and discover parts of themselves through the act of being heard.

What does it take to qualify for a scholarship through Women for Girls Foundation?

In this conversation, Suprabha Sharma, Founder of Women for Girls Foundation, explains the key eligibility criteria:

• The girl must come from an underprivileged background.
• She must demonstrate a genuine willingness to pursue her education.
• If she is underage and still attending school, she must have a female mentor, such as a teacher, to guide and support her.

Through S3 Podcast, we hope to help identify two girls who could benefit from this opportunity.

“Where are the women? Why are they missing?”
This was the question that led Suprabha Sharma on her journey towards helping women, eventually leading to the founding of Women For Girls Foundation.

She says the foundation’s philosophy, “by the girls, for the girls,” was born from what she saw around her and the absence of women role models she noticed growing up. She also reflects on how she was always aware of the deprivation that existed within many households, and how these observations eventually came together to shape the foundation.
