The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, conferred the prestigious President’s Police Colour to the Sikkim Police during an Alankaran Parade at the Paljor Stadium, Gangtok, today. The event was attended by the Governor of Sikkim, Om Prakash Mathur, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, his wife Krishna Kumari Rai, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the SLA, Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, Advisors, Chairpersons, OSDs, the Chief Secretary, the DGP of Sikkim Police, and Heads of Departments from various sectors. Additionally, a significant number of members of the general public were present at the occasion.
The President’s Police Colour represents the highest ceremonial distinction granted to a police force in India, acknowledging outstanding service, steadfast discipline, and commitment to the nation.
With this recognition, Sikkim has become the 15th state in India and the 3rd from the North East to receive this honour.
