The second edition of PRISM, the bi-annual e-magazine published by the FYIMP students of the Department of English, Gauhati University, was inaugurated on 20th November, 2025 by Prof. Jyotiprakash Tamuli, former Professor of the Department of Linguistics and former Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Gauhati University.
In his inaugural address, Prof. Tamuli emphasized the profound significance of language in literature and the commendable academic initiatives driven by students. He commended the unwavering efforts of the students in shaping PRISM into a meaningful platform for expression and critical dialogue.
The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Anjali Daimari, Head of the Department of English and Advisor to the Editorial Board. Her invaluable encouragement and guidance have played a pivotal role in the development of the magazine.
Themed "Northeast Vignettes," this edition celebrates the rich cultural, artistic, and literary vibrance of the Northeastern region. The editorial responsibilities for this edition were shouldered by Kashyap Talukdar and Kabyanjali Mazumder, along with the Editorial Board.
This year's edition is dedicated to the cherished memories of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika and Zubeen Garg, paying homage to their profound influence on the cultural landscape of Assam and the Northeast.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by esteemed faculty members of the Department of English. Additionally, students from various departments across Gauhati University graced the occasion, reflecting PRISM's commitment to welcoming contributions from the wider student community.
