Savitribai Phule (1831-1897) was India's first female teacher, a pioneering social reformer, and poet, often called the "Mother of Indian Feminism". With her husband, Jyotirao Phule, she established India's first school for girls in Pune in 1848, championed women's education and rights, fought caste discrimination, and co-founded the Satyashodhak Samaj (Society of Truth Seekers). Her work challenged norms against female education, widow remarriage, and Dalit rights, making her a symbol for women's empowerment and social equality
