An Indian Air Force aircraft departed from Hindon Airbase in Ghaziabad for Nepal, carrying 37.5 tonnes of relief material.

This is the second consignment of relief supplies sent from India.

Nepal is highly vulnerable to natural disasters because of its mountainous geography, active earthquake zone, intense monsoon rainfall, and changing glaciers. The main hazards are earthquakes, floods, landslides, fires, lightning, avalanches, and glacial lake outburst floods.

One of Nepalā€™s worst recent disasters was the 2015 Gorkha earthquake, which killed about 8,790 people, injured more than 22,000, and destroyed hundreds of thousands of homes.

Nepal also regularly experiences severe monsoon floods and landslides; the September 2024 floods and landslides killed more than 250 people and affected about 2.6 million.

A powerful mudslide and flash flood struck the Gyirong (Kerung) Port area on August 26, sending a massive surge of mud and debris through the region. The disaster caused extensive destruction and left many people missing as rescue operations continue.

šŸ‡³šŸ‡µ Nepal Disaster Latest Update

At least 162 people have died in Nepal and surrounding affected areas, according to the latest reports.

Hundreds remain missing, including tourists and local residents.
The worst-hit areas include Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading, particularly along the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli river systems.

The disaster appears to have been triggered by a glacier/ice-rock collapse and landslide, which suddenly sent a huge volume of water, mud and debris downstream.

Roads, bridges, hydropower facilities, homes and communication infrastructure have been severely damaged.

Assam has been sanctioned ā‚¹140 crore under RKVY and 3,86,507 houses under PMAY. Assurance has also been given of all possible support for houses damaged by floods.

On 25/08/2026, during a cordon and search operation at Taphou Kuki and Taphou Liangmai, Senapati district by a combined team of Manipur Police, CoBRA Battalion, CRPF, Mahila Battalion, CRPF the following items were recovered:
i.02 (two) SBBL guns.
ii.78 (seventy-eight) numbers of 12-bore live rounds.
iii.ā 11 (eleven) numbers of 12-bore empty cases.
iv.ā Empty cases of AK47 and .22 ammunition
v.01 (one) 12-bore cartridge belt.
vi.01 (one) set of charger.
vii.05 (five) vehicle registration plates.
viii.01 (one) empty steel military-surplus ammunition container.

Further, a total of 03 (Three) bunkers were destroyed, 02 (two) bunkers in Taphou Kuki and 01 (one) in Taphou Liangmai in the operation.

Imphal: The 79th Raising Day of the Manipur Excise Department was observed at the Excise Headquarters in Lamphelpat, Imphal, highlighting the departmentā€™s role in safeguarding the stateā€™s revenue, public health and social order.

Speaking at the occasion, the dignitary praised the department for its achievements and contributions to the stateā€™s financial administration. The department collected a total revenue of ā‚¹28.98 crore during the Financial Year 2025ā€“26.

The occasion also underscored the Excise Departmentā€™s dual responsibility,not only as a major source of state revenue but also as an important line of defence in addressing issues related to public health and maintaining social order.

The department was congratulated for its performance, with confidence expressed that its revenue collection would continue to grow in the coming months and contribute further towards strengthening the financial health of Manipur.

The 79th Raising Day also served as an opportunity to acknowledge the dedication of officers and personnel of the Excise Department and their continued efforts in carrying out their responsibilities across the state.
