In a tragic incident, a police officer posted in Assam's Cachar district died allegedly after consuming gutkha.

The deceased has been identified as Surajit Deka, the in-charge of the Bihara Police Outpost under the Katigora Assembly Constituency.

According to reports, Deka collapsed unconscious inside his official quarters shortly after consuming the substance. Fellow officers and local residents rushed to his aid and broke open the door to rescue him.

He was first taken to the local Bikrampur hospital, but due to the severity of his condition, he was referred to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Sadly, despite efforts to save him, Surajit Deka passed away during treatment.

During their journey, Nivrutti stopped at a jewellery shop to buy a mangalsutra for his wife using his savings of ₹1,120. The shopkeeper was overwhelmed by the elderly man's gesture and decided to accept only ₹20 as a token of blessings. The couple's love and devotion have inspired many, highlighting the importance of small, meaningful gestures. Nivrutti's act shows that love and respect can be expressed in simple ways, and the shopkeeper's kindness has added to the warmth of the moment. This heartwarming story is a reminder of the power of love, kindness, and generosity.

The first evacuation flight carrying 110 Indian citizens, as part of Operation Sindhu, landed in New Delhi from Yerevan, Armenia, on Thursday, amid the escalating military conflict between Iran and Israel.

India launched Operation Sindhu, a mission aimed at ensuring the safety and evacuation of Indian nationals from Iran.

The ministry of external affairs confirmed that Indian students residing in Tehran were safely evacuated from the city through coordination by the Indian Embassy. "Indian students in Tehran have been moved out of the city for safety reasons through arrangements made by the Indian Embassy," stated the ministry in their official communication.

A devastating incident occurred on June 12, 2025, when an Air India Boeing 787 aircraft, operating flight AI-171 from Ahmedabad to London, crashed shortly after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.

- The aircraft took off at 1:39 pm and crashed moments later.
