The first digital marketing mistake I made (and what I learned) π‘
When I launched my first Facebook ad campaign, I was convinced I'd cracked the code. I had a beautiful creative, a catchy headline, and I was ready to watch the sales roll in.
I set my budget, hit publish, and waited.
And waited.
The clicks came in... but nothing else. No sales. No conversions. Just a rapidly draining ad budget and a whole lot of confusion.
Here's what went wrong:
I skipped the most important step understanding my audience. I was so focused on what I wanted to say that I forgot to think about what they needed to hear. I didn't test different messages, I didn't segment my audience, and I definitely didn't have a clear conversion path.
What I learned:
Marketing isn't about shouting into the void and hoping someone listens. It's about having genuine conversations with the right people, at the right time, with the right message. Now, I spend just as much time researching and understanding my audience as I do create content.
That first failed campaign? It cost me money, sure. But it taught me the most valuable lesson in digital marketing: empathy and strategy will always beat flashy tactics.
