India–EU Free Trade Dea 😨l: A Game-Changer for Global Trade 📈

India and the European Union have unveiled the first detailed breakdown of their newly concluded Free Trade Agreement — and the scale of tariff cuts is massive. This historic deal is set to reshape India’s import market and redefine EU–India economic ties over the next decade.

The biggest headline? Automobiles. India will slash tariffs on European cars to just 10%, down from current duties that reach nearly 70%, with an annual quota of 250,000 vehicles. This move could completely reset India’s premium car market.

But it doesn’t stop there. Over 90% of EU goods entering India will see tariffs reduced or eliminated — covering machinery, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, aircraft, medical equipment, and more. Hospitals and industries in India could soon benefit from lower-cost European technology and equipment.

Food and beverages also see major changes. Tariffs on European wine, spirits, beer, and olive oil will drop sharply, opening India’s market to new premium imports.

On the other side, the EU will remove tariffs on 99.5% of Indian exports — including textiles, leather, gems, jewellery, chemicals, rubber, and marine products — boosting India’s global trade position.

To top it off, the EU has pledged €500 million to support India’s green transition and climate-friendly investments.
This agreement isn’t just about trade — it’s about reshaping economic power, industry competition, and future global supply chains.

🇮🇳 India’s Republic Day – 26 January

India’s Republic Day marks the day the Indian Constitution came into effect on 26 January 1950, transforming India into a sovereign democratic republic. Though India gained independence in 1947, it was on this day that the nation adopted its own constitution, written by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and the Constituent Assembly.
The grand celebration takes place in New Delhi, featuring a spectacular military parade, cultural performances, and a display of India’s diverse heritage. The President of India hoists the national flag, while the Prime Minister pays tribute at the Amar Jawan Jyoti for fallen soldiers. A foreign head of state is often invited as the Chief Guest, symbolizing India’s global friendships.
