Inquiry Committee Constituted to Probe Incident Involving Security Personnel and Media Bus at Gwaltabi
Imphal, May 21, 2025: The Governor of Manipur has constituted a two-member Inquiry Committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding an incident involving security personnel and a Manipur State Road Transport bus carrying media personnel. The incident occurred on May 20, 2025, near the Gwaltabi checkpost in Imphal East District, while the media team was en route to cover the Manipur Shirui Festival.
As per the official order issued by the Home Department of the Manipur Secretariat, the committee will examine the facts of the incident and identify any lapses in protocol. The committee is also expected to recommend measures to prevent the recurrence of similar incidents in the future.
The Inquiry Committee comprises Shri N. Ashok Kumar, Commissioner (Home), Government of Manipur, and Shri Th. Kirankumar Singh, Secretary (IT), Government of Manipur.
The committee has been directed to submit its report within 15 days.
The order was issued by the Chief Secretary of the Government of Manipur, P.K. Singh, and copies have been forwarded to the Secretary to the Governor, the Staff Officer to the Chief Secretary, the committee members, and the guard file for records.
The swift move comes in response to concerns over safety and coordination during the festival, which attracts significant media and public attention.
