The Supreme Court on Monday questioned why a fresh forensic report on the authenticity of audio clips allegedly linking former Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh to the ethnic violence in the state had not been submitted even though it had been sought three months ago, Live Law reported. In February, the court had directed the Central Forensic Science Laboratory to examine the clips and submit its findings in a sealed cover. After reviewing the report, a bench of Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar in May said that it was not satisfied with the analysis given by the laboratory and asked for a fresh report.

The Manipur government has approved the creation of a new police station in the state capital Imphal and 12 posts of Sub Divisional Police Officers (SDPO) across nine districts of the state, an official statement said on Sunday.

This strategic move is intended to bolster policing capabilities, improve supervision of investigation, and enhance overall law and order management in all districts for administrative conveniences, the statement said.

"The government of Manipur, in principle, has accorded approval to a significant proposal submitted by the Manipur Police Department for the establishment of a new Secretariat Police Station at Mantripukhri and creation of twelve new Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) posts in various districts across the state," it said.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested another key accused involved in the brutal killing of three women and as many children in Manipur's Jiribam last year, officials said on Friday.

NIA caught -- Lalrosang Hmar alias Rosang of Moinathol village and Dilkhosh Grant of Cachar, Assam -- from Aizawl, Mizoram on Thursday, they said.

"The arrest came close on the heels of the arrest of another accused, Thanglienlal Hmar by a joint NIA-Assam police team yesterday, also from Aizawl," the statement issued by the probe agency said.

Lok Sabha on Wednesday passed a resolution approving extension of President's Rule in Manipur by another six months beyond August 13, with the government asserting that peace is prevailing in the northeastern state.

Replying to a brief discussion on the statutory resolution to extend President's Rule in Manipur, Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said there has been only one casualty in the state since the imposition of central rule in February.

"What can be a bigger proof of peace returning there than the fact that since President's Rule was imposed, there has been only one fatality. There have been no casualties in the last four months," he said.

Believe it or not, the Arambai Tenggol, which was once regarded as a resistance group fighting for the good of the people, has lost its purpose. Once seen as protectors and guardians, they have now turned into mere puppets of the BJP government. They no longer care about the welfare of the people they were supposed to stand for. It’s heartbreaking to see them fail so miserably in their role as a people's movement.

Their leader, Korounganba Khuman, a fu***ng Ass* has become a symbol of this betrayal. He has let down the trust and hopes of the very people he was supposed to lead. Instead of standing tall for justice and integrity, he has proven to be nothing more than a self-serving opportunist. It’s not just disappointing—it’s enraging to witness such a fall from grace.

The Arambai Tenggol had the potential to make a difference, to be a force for good, but they chose a path of greed, corruption, and manipulation. Their actions have left the people disillusioned and betrayed. How could they turn their backs on the very values they claimed to uphold? It’s a painful reminder that power without accountability always corrupts.
