📰 STATE MOURNING IN MANIPUR ON JULY 24 TO HONOUR RATAN THIYAM

The Government of Manipur has declared a one-day State Mourning on July 24, 2025, as a mark of respect to renowned playwright and theatre personality Shri Ratan Thiyam, who passed away recently.

An official order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) states that the National Flag will be flown at half-mast throughout the state on the day of mourning. Furthermore, no official entertainment programs will be held on that day.

Shri Ratan Thiyam was a towering figure in Indian theatre, celebrated for his contributions to the performing arts and Manipuri cultural heritage. His passing marks a significant loss to the artistic community of the nation.

The order was signed by Thokchom Bedajit, Deputy Secretary, GAD, and issued in the name of the Governor of Manipur.

✅ The government eviction drives are not against genuine traders or public interest — they target those who illegally occupied public lands and markets for years, exploiting the system and causing chaos.

👥 What about the rights of law-abiding citizens? What about public spaces, footpaths, and planned development?

🔹 Protect genuine vendors, but punish those who misuse the system

🔹 Act equally in valley and hill districts

🔹 Free footpaths, roads, and markets from illegal blocks

🔹 Show that law is not selective — it’s for everyone

🔹 Punish misuse and manipulation in all regions equally

🔹 Don’t limit law to a few areas — law is for all

📜 MP Dr. Angomcha Bimol Akoijam Writes to Governor for State Holiday in Honour of Ratan Thiyam

In a heartfelt letter dated 23rd July 2025, Dr. Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, Member of Parliament (Inner Manipur), has requested the Hon'ble Governor of Manipur to declare a State Holiday to honour the legendary Shri Ratan Thiyam, an internationally renowned playwright and icon of modern Manipuri theatre, who has recently passed away.

Dr. Akoijam stated that the death of Shri Ratan Thiyam marks the loss of a "great son of the state" and one of the few globally recognized cultural icons from Manipur. He emphasized that a solemn and befitting acknowledgment of his legacy is essential, given Thiyam’s contributions to arts and culture.

🛑 MANIPUR HOME DEPARTMENT ISSUES STRICT DIRECTIVES TO CURB ILLEGAL MIGRATION 🛑

In view of the apprehension of influx of illegal migrants due to unrest in neighboring countries, the Government of Manipur has issued a strong advisory for all Deputy Commissioners and Police officials to enforce border vigilance and prevent illegal entry.

🔹 Robust security at international, inter-State, and district borders
🔹 Immediate reporting and biometric data collection of illegal migrants
🔹 Illegal migrants to be held at secured shelters – no local integration allowed

🇮🇳🇨🇳 India Resumes Tourist Visas for Chinese Nationals After 5-Year Ban

In a significant diplomatic shift, the Government of India has officially reopened tourist visa applications for Chinese citizens, starting July 24, 2025. This move ends a five-year suspension imposed after the deadly 2020 Galwan Valley border clash and the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In June 2020, a violent clash between Indian and Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley led to the deaths of 20 Indian soldiers, with casualties also reported on the Chinese side.

Soon after, India suspended all tourist and e-tourist visas for Chinese nationals, citing security concerns and pandemic-related risks.

Business, medical, and student visas were gradually restored over the years — but tourist visas remained frozen.

🔹 WHAT'S NEW:

As per the Indian Embassy in Beijing, the following updates are now in effect:

✅ Tourist visa applications for Chinese nationals will reopen from July 24, 2025.
✅ Applicants must:

Fill out the online visa form

Book appointments through India Visa Application Centers

Submit documents at Indian Visa Centers in Beijing, Shanghai, or Guangzhou.

✅ E-Tourist Visas (e-TV) will also become available for eligible travelers.

🔹 CHINA'S REACTION:

The Chinese Foreign Ministry welcomed the decision, calling it a "positive step toward improving people-to-people exchanges" and expressing hope for strengthened bilateral ties.

📰 MAHARAJA SANAJAOBA WARNS: ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS THREATEN MANIPUR’S FUTURE

📢 Maharaja Sanajaoba Leishemba , Rajya Sabha MP and titular king of Manipur, has expressed serious concern over the growing threat of illegal foreign immigrants in the Northeast — especially in Manipur.

👉 In his Facebook post, he highlighted how neighbouring states are already taking urgent steps:

🗨️ Assam CM: “Hindus are becoming a minority in Assam in 10 years because of the influx of illegal immigrants.”

🆔 Mizoram has launched a biometric enrollment drive for over 30,000 displaced Myanmar nationals staying in 11 districts.

🚨 Nagaland is enforcing strict vigilance to stop illegal immigrants from entering through Assam due to eviction drives.

⚠️ But Manipur, Maharaja warns, is already being invaded from all directions.

🗣️ He urged:
“Now is the time to unite all indigenous peoples of Manipur and fight against these foreign forces. Otherwise, we will become refugees in our own land.”
