Bengaluru, May 27: The Paralympic Association of Arunachal (PAA) has congratulated two para athletes from Arunachal Pradesh for bringing laurels to the state by winning silver medals at the prestigious 8th Indian Open International Para Athletics Championships 2026 held in Bengaluru from May 25 to 27.

Ms. Kipa Mero secured the Silver Medal in the Women’s F-12 Javelin event, while Shri Tingong Wangpan clinched the Silver Medal in the Men’s T-37 Sprint event, marking a proud moment for Arunachal Pradesh in the national and international para sports arena.

The PAA stated that the outstanding performances of the athletes reflect the growing strength and potential of para sports in the state and serve as an inspiration for aspiring sportspersons across Arunachal Pradesh.

The Arunachal Pradesh contingent participated in the championship under the guidance of coach Techi Sonu and team manager Takam Pario, whose leadership and support played a crucial role in the athletes’ successful campaign.

The association also expressed gratitude to the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, and the Sports Authority of Arunachal (SAA), along with all supporters and well-wishers, for their continued encouragement towards the development of para sports in the state.
