Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for development projects worth over *₹5,100 crore* in Arunachal Pradesh. Major projects include the *240 MW Tato-I* and *180 MW Heo* hydroelectric projects in Shi-Yomi district, a *state-of-the-art convention centre in Tawang, and **10 other infrastructure works* covering connectivity, health, fire safety, and women’s hostels.
Addressing a huge gathering at IG Park, Itanagar, Modi hailed Arunachal’s patriotism and announced *next-generation GST reforms* with *two tax slabs (5% & 18%), making many items tax-free and reducing costs for homes, vehicles, dining, and travel. He highlighted that **central tax allocation to Arunachal has increased 16 times* compared to previous governments and praised the success of the *Vibrant Villages Programme*, which is transforming remote border villages with roads, electricity, and internet.
Modi criticised past regimes for neglecting the Northeast and reaffirmed his government’s focus on *“Nation First, Citizens First,”* aiming to make India a developed nation by 2047 with Arunachal and the Northeast as key growth drivers.
