Assam Exposure Visit Highlights Need for Stronger Industrial Push in Arunachal Pradesh
Chaygaon, Assam | August 13, 2026: Shri Likha Maaj, Lead Promoter of the Mega Food Park in Arunachal Pradesh, has called for greater industrial exposure, stronger infrastructure and proactive investment promotion to accelerate industrial development in the state.
During a two-day exposure visit to the Industrial Growth Centre at Chaygaon, Shri Maaj visited around 250 industrial units and appreciated the availability of basic infrastructure such as reliable water supply, electricity and road connectivity—facilities that have helped create an investor-friendly environment in Assam.
Shri Maaj expressed concern that similar industrial infrastructure has not yet been developed adequately in Arunachal Pradesh despite the state’s abundant natural resources and economic potential. He noted that inadequate basic facilities continue to discourage investors and limit industrial growth.
He also pointed out that Arunachal stakeholders often travel to Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar for industrial exposure, adding to the burden on the state exchequer, while Chaygaon offers a major industrial learning opportunity just a few hours away in neighbouring Assam.
According to Shri Maaj, several established industries at Chaygaon involve investments of around ₹200 crore, demonstrating how proper infrastructure, supportive policies and an investor-friendly ecosystem can attract large-scale private investment while generating employment opportunities.
He suggested that the State Government should organise structured exposure visits for MLAs, government officials, entrepreneurs, Community-Based Organisations (CBOs), unemployed youth and other stakeholders. Such visits, he said, could provide practical understanding of successful industrial models and help identify suitable opportunities that can be replicated in Arunachal Pradesh.
Shri Maaj also highlighted the need to strengthen existing industrial centres around Pasighat–Ruksin, which, he observed, have yet to achieve the scale, productivity and investor participation witnessed in Assam.
Particular emphasis was placed on Arunachal Pradesh’s lone Mega Food Park, with a call for improved infrastructure, increased investor participation and promotion of food-processing industries to build a vibrant industrial ecosystem around the facility.
He further advocated for systematic Investor Summits, stronger industrial infrastructure, investor-friendly policies and proactive government support under the leadership of the Chief Minister to put Arunachal Pradesh on a stronger path towards industrialisation, employment generation and economic self-reliance.
The key message from the exposure visit is clear: Arunachal Pradesh has the resources and potential, but stronger infrastructure, practical industrial exposure and sustained investment facilitation are essential to convert that potential into jobs, industries and economic growth.
