Why wasn’t the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project planned above Yingkiong?
Because projects of this scale are not decided by geography alone.
The final site selection depends on several critical factors including reservoir capacity, terrain stability, flood moderation potential, long-term safety, and ensuring that the storage area remains completely within Indian territory.
The selected location has been planned keeping strategic importance, water security, regional safety, and future development considerations in mind.
