A child from Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, has a powerful message for those who continue to stereotype people from the Northeast as “Chinese.”
After a man reportedly asked her if she was Chinese, she responded emotionally: “Hum log India hain. I feel very sad and angry when people call us Chinese. We are Indians, don’t call us Chinese.”
Her words highlight the hurt and frustration caused by racial stereotyping and remind us that India’s diversity is its strength. People from the Northeast are an integral part of India, and no one should be judged or labelled based on their appearance.
🇮🇳 We are Indians. Respect diversity. Stop racism.
