The Nagaland state government, led by Advisor for Social Welfare Wangpang Konyak, has announced plans to establish old-age homes in all districts of the state during a senior-citizen eye-camp event at the Mon district hospital. This initiative reflects growing awareness of ageing population issues in the Northeast, where traditional family-care models are evolving under changing economic and social pressures. The scheme aims to offer inclusive, elder-friendly infrastructure and social-welfare support in remote hill districts. Implementation will require funds, trained staff and logistical planning—especially given terrain-challenges and hilly connectivity.
