UNESCO warns that there is a near-100% probability of a tsunami wave exceeding 1 meter occurring somewhere in the Mediterranean within a 30-year period.

The Mediterranean may not look like a typical tsunami zone, but history and scientific modeling show that destructive waves are possible. Some areas of the French Riviera could have less than 10 minutes to react.

That’s why Nice Côte d’Azur has received UNESCO “Tsunami Ready” recognition, with evacuation planning, preparedness measures, and public awareness programs.
