Green Glow on Mars: Why Is Mars Glowing Green?
Mars has a hidden glow.
Scientists detected a faint green light in the Martian atmosphere—a phenomenon known as oxygen dayglow.
Sunlight interacts with carbon dioxide in Mars’ thin atmosphere, producing oxygen atoms that can emit a distinctive green light.
Even more remarkable: this type of atmospheric emission was observed for the first time on a planet beyond Earth.
The Red Planet may look cold, dusty, and lifeless—but its atmosphere is far more active than it appears.
Would you have expected Mars to glow green? 👇
