How to make gujiya at Holi.....
Gujiya is a traditional Indian sweet that is commonly prepared during Holi, a popular festival in India. Here is a simple recipe to make gujiya at home:
Ingredients:
2 cups of all-purpose flour
1/2 cup of ghee
1 cup of khoya
1/2 cup of powdered sugar
1/4 cup of chopped almonds and pistachios
1/4 cup of raisins
1 teaspoon of cardamom powder
Oil for deep-frying
Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and ghee. Mix it well until it turns into a crumbly texture.
Gradually add water and knead the dough until it becomes smooth and firm. Cover it with a damp cloth and set it aside for 30 minutes.
In a frying pan, roast the khoya over medium heat until it turns light brown. Allow it to cool.
Once the khoya has cooled, add the powdered sugar, chopped almonds, pistachios, raisins, and cardamom powder. Mix it well.
Divide the dough into small balls and roll them into small circles. Make sure the edges are thin and even.
Place a spoonful of the khoya filling in the center of each circle. Fold the circle in half and seal the edges by pressing them firmly.
Use a gujiya cutter or a fork to make a decorative edge on the sealed edges of the gujiya.
Heat the oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the gujiyas in batches and fry them until they turn golden brown. Remove and place them on a paper towel to remove the excess oil.
Serve the gujiyas warm or at room temperature.
Enjoy your homemade gujiyas and Happy Holi!
