गुजरात में महंगाई और भ्रष्टाचार के खिलाफ छात्रों ने 'नवनिर्माण आंदोलन' शुरू किया, जिससे सीएम को कुर्सी छोड़नी पड़ी।

मोरारजी देसाई के आमरण अनशन के दबाव में जून 1975 में चुनाव हुए और विपक्षी 'जनता मोर्चा' ने कांग्रेस को हरा दिया।

"गरीबी हटाओ" के बाद गरीबी और कैसे बढ़ गई 😱

1971 में 'गरीबी हटाओ' के नारे पर जीत के बाद, हालात और बदतर होते चले गए - Bangladesh संकट, Pakistan के साथ जंग, America की मदद बंद होना, और तेल के दामों में उछाल। 1973 में कीमतें 23% बढ़ीं, 1974 में 30%। सरकार को अपने कर्मचारियों की सैलरी तक freeze करनी पड़ी, और 1972-73 के मानसून की नाकामी ने अनाज की पैदावार 8% गिरा दी।

पूरे देश में गहरी नाराज़गी थी, संसद और चुनावों से भरोसा उठने लगा, और नक्सली movement तेज़ी से बढ़ने लगा। ये सुलगता गुस्सा अब फटने को तैयार था।

राजाओं से किया वादा इंदिरा ने तोड़ दिया! 😱

आज़ादी के वक्त Princely States को भारत में मिलाने के लिए राजाओं से वादा किया गया था कि उन्हें एक सरकारी भत्ता - Privy Purse - मिलता रहेगा। लेकिन ये खानदानी सुविधाएं Constitution की बराबरी और social justice के खिलाफ थीं, और खुद नेहरू भी इस पर नाराज़गी जता चुके थे।

1967 के बाद Indira Gandhi ने इसे खत्म करने की मांग का साथ दिया, हालांकि Morarji Desai इसके खिलाफ थे। 1970 में Constitution amendment fail हुआ, फिर ordinance को Supreme Court ने रद्द कर दिया। लेकिन जनता का समर्थन Indira के साथ था, और 1971 की बड़ी जीत के बाद आखिरकार Privy Purse को खत्म किया गया।
