Shazad Condemns Killing of Elderly Women in Border Shelling
Jammu, 09 July: Dr Shazad Malik, former Vice Chancellor of Sai Nath Univeristy and a native of border town Mendhar today strongly condemned the unprovoked cross border shelling by Pakistan targeting civilians in border areas of Poonch. The former VC expressed condolences with the family of Resham Bi, an elderly women of Sagra village of Balakote who was killed on Tuesday Night in Cross border shelling in village Lanjote wherein she was on visit to her relatives.
Shazad said, Civilians living in border area are frontline guard of Indiaβs sovereignty and territorial defense. While making an appeal to the union government to take stringent action against the enemy of India who are killing civilians, he also accused the district administration of Poonch for not taking appropriate action for safeguarding the lives of innocent Civilians.
He informed that government of India have given 100s of crores of rupees for construction of bunkers in border areas of J & K including district Poonch but no rules and guidelines were followed in allotment and construction of these bunkers in Block Mendhar and Balakote the frontline border areas of Poonch.
He said the district administration Poonch without following codal formalities and bypassing set rules shifted and transferred bunkers from one Panchayat to other and from one department to other just to pamper and to provide financial benefits to their own blue eyed people.
He urged the Union home Ministry to order a high level probe to put light on the biggest scam of bunker construction in district Poonch wherein millions of rupees of Tax payers are drained and no accountability is fixed. It is pertinent to mention here that several bunkers in Poonch are made above the ground whereas as per guidelines, the bunkers should be underground.
