Poor Family’s House Collapses in Bajua Village; Thakur Hoshiar Singh Raises Questions Over Delay in PMAY Benefits

Thakur Hoshiar Singh, Congress leader from Jammu North and Secretary, JKPCC, visited Bajua village, Panchayat Nardani, in the Jammu North Assembly constituency after a poor family’s mud house collapsed during the night.

The affected family belongs to the BPL category and is facing serious financial difficulties. Thakur Hoshiar Singh said that the family had approached the Bhalwal Block office nearly two years ago under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and had even recorded a video regarding their request for assistance to construct a safe house. However, despite the passage of nearly two years, no financial assistance has been provided to the family.

He said that the poor family was forced to live in the unsafe mud house, which finally collapsed during the night, putting the lives and belongings of the family at risk.

Thakur Hoshiar Singh questioned the J&K Government and the Bhalwal Block Development Office over the delay, asking why eligible poor families are still waiting for assistance under government housing schemes.

He appealed to the concerned authorities to immediately assess the damage, provide relief to the affected family and sanction financial assistance for construction of a proper house at the earliest.

He said, “Poor people should not be made to suffer due to delays in government offices. The administration must act immediately and ensure that eligible families receive the benefits meant for them.”

J&K POLICE KATHUA SEIZED APPROX. 09 GRAMS OF HE**IN (CHITTA) AT DHARAMKOT, BILLAWAR; 01 NARCO-SMUGGLER ARRESTED

KATHUA, 25 AUGUST 2026:* Continuing its efforts against the drug menace, J&K Police Kathua under the overall supervision of *SSP Kathua Ms. Mohita Sharma, IPS* recovered approx. *09 grams of He**in (Chitta)* like narcotic substance at Dharamkot, PS Billawar and arrested one narco-smuggler.

On *23/08/2026*, an information was received from reliable sources that one person namely *Neetan Kapoor S/o Manohar Lal R/o Ward No. 04 near Old Bus Stand, Billawar* was roaming in Dharamkot area for selling illicit narcotics. On this information, a case vide *FIR No. 171/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act* was instantly registered at *PS Billawar*.

Meanwhile, acting swiftly, a police team of PS Billawar led by *SHO PS Billawar* under the supervision of *SP Ops Upper Kathua & SDPO Billawar* established a special naka at Dharamkot area. During naka checking, one person was seen roaming under suspicious circumstances. On seeing the police team, he tried to flee from the spot but the alert police team made hectic efforts and apprehended him. On questioning, he disclosed his name as: *Neetan Kapoor S/o Manohar Lal R/o Ward No. 04, Near Old Bus Stand, Billawar, Tehsil Billawar, Distt. Kathua* During his personal search, *09 grams of He**in (Chitta)* like substance and one mobile phone were recovered from his possession.

Further investigation is underway to unearth the forward and backward linkages involved in the supply chain of drugs in the area.
