*HUGE CACHE OF ILLICIT LIQUOR (188 BOTTLES OF JK EXCISE WHISKY) SEIZED BY POLICE TEAM OF P/S KATHUA & BANI ; 02 BOOTLEGGERS ARRESTED.*

Continuing its efforts to discourage the trade and transportation of illicit liquor, J&K Police Kathua under the overall supervision of *SSP Kathua Sh. Shobhit Saksena-IPS* arrested two bootleggers & recovered Huge Cache( 188 bottles of JK Excise Whisky i.e 48 Bottles of OB Whisky 180 ml each, 12 Bottles of JK special Whisky 750 ml each, 54 Bottles of JK Special Whisky 180 ml each, 36 Bottles of JK Special Whisky 250 ml each and 22 Bottles of Imperial Blue 180 ml each and 04 Bottles of 750 ml each and 12 Bottles of JK Special whisky (180 ml each) from the possession of two persons in the jurisdictional area of PS Kathua and Bani.
In the first instance, on 15-08-2025 police team led by SHO PS Kathua Insp Sandeep Chib under the supervision of Addl SP Kathua Sh. Rahul Charak and DySP Hqrs Kathua Sh. Ravinder Singh during naka/ checking in its jurisdictional area apprehended one person namely Swarn Singh S/o Sudarshan Singh R/o Barnoti Tehsil Kathua. During checking Huge Cache of illicit liquor ( 172 bottles of JK Excise Whisky i.e 48 Bottles of OB Whisky 180 ml each, 12 Bottles of JK special Whisky 750 ml each, 54 Bottles of JK Special Whisky 180 ml each, 36 Bottles of JK Special Whisky 250 ml each and 22 Bottles of Imperial Blue 180 ml each recovered from his possession. In this regard a case FIR No. 399/2025 U/S 48 (a) Excise Act has been registered at PS Kathua.
While in the second instance, a police team of PS Bani led by SHO PS Bani under the guidance of DySP Bani apprehended Hoshiar Singh s/o Jagdev Singh r/o Selli Lawang and recovered 04 bottles of 750/750 ml and 12 bottles of 180/180 ml JK Special Whiskey from his possession. Consequently, FIR No. 72/2025 U/S 48(f) Excise Act was registered at Police Station Bani.
Thereafter a total of 188 bottles of JK Excise Whisky were recovered and two persons were arrested in both the incidents which they had kept in their illegal possesion in order to gain illegitimate profit by selling the same to people of the concerned area and further investigation has been initiated.
SSP Kathua Sh. Shobhit Saksena IPS assures that strict action will be taken against anyone caught involved in illegal Trade/transportation of illicit liquor.
The general public appreciates the efforts of Kathua Police in seizing the Stockpile of Illcit liquor and apprehending the accused and believes that such actions will deter others from engaging in similar activities.
