Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari on Wednesday said his party is contesting elections in Budgam for the first time and is confident of strong support from the people.

Talking to reporters as per KNS Correspondent in Budgam, Bukhari said, “Our workers have already covered more than 20 of the 120 villages in this constituency, and by the grace of Allah, we expect a good response.

Taking a dig at rival parties, he remarked, “BJP, NC, and PDP have long played with people’s emotions.

There’s no real difference in their policies or programs only in their names.”

Responding to a question on the National Conference’s claim of having no powers, Bukhari said, “If any government says it has nothing, it’s a matter of shame. The government holds all powers if they need the governor’s permission, that’s their problem. The governor is the head in duty, and statehood is never an obstacle for those who truly want to work.”(

From Dansal to Bhalwal, People’s Support Will Shape a New Nagrota: Anil Sharma

Anil Bats for Establishing National Law University in Nagrota

Jammu, 05/November/2025: Anil Sharma, Independent candidate from the Nagrota Assembly Constituency and President of the All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC), today addressed a press conference in Jammu and expressed deep gratitude to the people of Nagrota for their incredible support during the election campaign.

While interacting with media persons, Sharma thanked the people, especially the youth and women of Nagrota constituency, for their massive response and warmth. “I was not sure that I would receive so much love and attention from the people,” he said. “The trust shown by residents across all four blocks including Dansal, Nagrota, Bhalwal, and Mathwar has strengthened my resolve to work even harder for their development and dignity.”

He noted that despite being the gateway to Jammu and Kashmir, Nagrota has faced years of neglect, with poor infrastructure, limited job opportunities, and weak basic amenities. He said the innocent people of all four blocks of the constituency continue to face irregular water supply, erratic electricity, and broken roads. Sharma promised to address these issues on a war footing.

Referring to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s recent statement in the J & K Legislative Assembly about establishing a National Law University, Sharma said the best location would be within the Nagrota Assembly Constituency. “Nagrota deserves this recognition as it lies on Jammu_Srinagar National Highway and connects multiple districts of Jammu, ” he added.

He informed the media that around 80 percent of people who interacted with him during his campaign, especially women and elderly villagers, complained about the scarcity of clean drinking water. “People allege that the Jal Jeevan Mission has become a source of corruption, and on the ground, it has failed to deliver the desired results,” he added.

Reiterating his developmental blueprint as mentioned in his election manifesto, Sharma said his vision is based on modern infrastructure, youth empowerment, women’s welfare, and people-centric growth. He pledged uninterrupted electricity, clean drinking water, all-weather roads, and the creation of a multi-specialty healthcare centre in the constituency.

On being asked about the attempts by some political parties to divide voters on the basis of caste and religion, Sharma said he firmly believes in unity, equality, justice, and the rule of Constitution of India. He explained that his mission, “Ekta Sankalp,” is inspired by the teachings of Guru Parshuram Ji and Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, two great luminaries who showed the path of courage, knowledge, and justice for all.

He said Guru Parshuram Ji taught that real strength comes from good character, discipline, and humility, not from power. Likewise, Dr. Ambedkar devoted his life to creating an India based on equality, brotherhood, and justice.

Highlighting Nagrota’s immense potential in religious and adventure tourism, Sharma said, “Nagrota can become a model constituency.

He added that the boundaries of Nagrota constituency touch four districts including Jammu, Samba, Udhampur, and Reasi, and there is huge potential for the area to be developed as a business circuit as well.

He called upon the local youth, to rise above divisive politics and support a movement built on development, dignity, and transparency. “My politics is not about promises but performance ,” he affirmed.
