JKNPP Bhim Reaffirms Historic Resolution, Launches Mass Movement for a Separate Jammu State.
JAMMU, May 02 —JKNPP Bhim today formally announced the launch of a comprehensive political and grassroots movement to secure full statehood for the Jammu region. Addressing a press conference here today, Vilakshan Singh, President JKNPP Bhim, stated that this announcement serves as the operational roadmap for the unanimous resolution passed on March 23. The resolution, which marked the Foundation Day of the party, honours the unyielding legacy of its founder, Sher-e-Jammu Prof. Bhim Singh, and declares that the only path to secure justice, equity, and dignity is the creation of a separate state of Jammu.
During the press conference, Vilakshan Singh emphasized that alongside the demand for statehood, the JKNPP Bhim has strongly resolved to fight for the absolute protection of land and job rights exclusively for the original residents of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. He stated that for decades, the people of Jammu have contributed their labour and taxes only to witness their resources consistently diverted elsewhere. Highlighting severe historical disparities in the allocation of state funds and development packages, Singh asserted that the youth of Jammu continue to face an uneven playing field in government recruitment, making strict constitutional safeguards for local lands and employment an urgent and non-negotiable necessity.
Vilakshan further highlighted that the demand for a separate state is not born out of division, but driven by the vital need to protect a distinct geographic and cultural entity. Bound by the rich heritage of the Dogras and the diverse tapestry of Dogri, Gojri, and Pahari languages, Jammu's identity has been systematically overshadowed in a combined administrative setup. Furthermore, JKNPP Bhim pointed to Jammu's undeniable role as the economic engine of the north. Citing the millions of pilgrims visiting the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine and the monumental discovery of vast lithium reserves in Reasi, Singh argued that an independent state budget is essential to reinvest local revenues directly into Jammu’s infrastructure, industries, and its people.
Condemning the historical political voicelessness of the region, Vilakshan Singh noted that despite Jammu's vast geographic expanse, its political destiny and policies have historically been controlled by leadership centred outside the region. To rectify this and ensure the people of Jammu decide their own future, JKNPP Bhim announced the immediate commencement of a district-wise mobilization campaign. Appealing to all citizens, student unions, trade associations, and civil society members to unite under a common banner, Singh declared that the time for waiting has passed and the grassroots fight for Jammu's statehood, land, and future begins now.
Others who were present in the press conference included Naresh Chib, Rajesh Gondhi, Sanju Bhagat, Rakesh Gupta, Rajan Jawmal, Naresh Sambyal, Rohit Sharma and others
