*J&K POLICE KATHUA SEIZED APPROX. 08 GRAMS OF HE**IN (CHITTA) AT BERIL MORH, BILLAWAR; 01 NARCO-SMUGGLER ARRESTED; 01 SCOOTY SEIZED*

*KATHUA, 02 SEP 2026:* Continuing its efforts against the drug menace, J&K Police Kathua under the overall supervision of *SSP Kathua Ms. Mohita Sharma-IPS* recovered approx. *08 grams of He**in (Chitta)* like narcotic substance at Beril Morh, PS Billawar, arrested one narco-smuggler and seized one scooty.
On *02/09/2026*, a police team of PS Billawar led by *SHO PS Billawar* under the guidance of *SP Ops Upper Kathua and SDPO Billawar* established a special naka at Beril Morh. During naka checking, one person coming from Mahanpur side towards Phinter on a scooty bearing *Reg. No. PB35V-2745* under suspicious circumstances was directed to stop for checking. On seeing the police team, he tried to flee from the spot but the alert police team made hectic efforts and apprehended him.
On questioning, he disclosed his name as *Balraj Kumar @ Cobra S/o Balwant Kumar R/o Sumwan, Tehsil Nagri, District Kathua.* During his personal search, *08 grams of He**in (Chitta)* like substance and one mobile phone were recovered from his possession.
In this regard, a case vide *FIR No. 178/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act* has been registered at *PS Billawar* and further investigation is underway to unearth the forward and backward linkages involved in the supply chain of drugs in the area.
