The Holy Qur'an says:
قُلْ بِفَضْلِ اللَّهِ وَبِرَحْمَتِهِ فَبِذَلِكَ فَلْيَفْرَحُوا هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِمَّا يَجْمَعُونَ
"Say: "In the bounty of God. And in His Mercy, in that "let them rejoice"; that is better than the (wealth) they hoard [Surah Yunus, 10:58]
Holy Quran also declares the Prophetﷺ as the greatest blessings and mercy of Allah Almighty:
وَ مَاۤ اَرۡسَلۡنٰکَ اِلَّا رَحۡمَۃً لِّلۡعٰلَمِیۡنَ ﴿۱۰۷﴾
“And We have sent you (O Muhammadﷺ) not but as a mercy for the whole universe.” [Al-Anbiya, 21:107]
Imam Ibn al-Jawzi (rah) explains 10:58 in his Tafsir:
أن فضل الله: العلم، ورحمته: محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم، رواه الضحاك عن ابن عباس
Translation: Ad-Dhahak narrated from Ibn Abbas (ra) that "The bounty mentioned in this verse means Knowledge (i.e of Qur'an and Tawhid) whereas Mercy means Muhammadﷺ." [Ibn Jawzi Z'ad al Maseer fi Ilm at Tafsir, (4/40)]
Jamia Al-Azhar and Dar Al-Ifta Egypt affirms that commemorating the Mawlid, the blessed birth of Prophet Muhammadﷺ, is permissible and a display of love and gratitude for Allah and His Prophet. The celebration is seen as a manifestation of joy and an act that brings one closer to Allah, rooted in the Prophet's own practice of fasting on Mondays to express thanks for his birth. Commemorating the Prophet's birth is not an innovation but a way to learn from his noble biography, fostering spiritual well-being and closeness to God.

The blessed Birth of Rasool'Allahﷺ is indeed greatest blessing of Almighty Allah and therefore it's not something which can be dragged into sectarian conflicts, it has a great significance, only if we understand, specially in present time where Islamophobia is growing day by day. But, unfortunately, we see that some Muslims do nonsense activities in the name of Milad/Mawlid, which does not benefit Islam in any way but in fact harms. And on the other side there are some other Muslims, who under the influence of sectarianism, declare Milad/Mawlid celebrations as shirk, bidda'h and complete misguidance, which is also wrong. Both of these groups are victims of extremism and sectarianism.
The way some people call the celebrations of Milad/Mawlid bidah-shirk is sheer ignorance and similarly questioning the love (for Prophet) of those who don't celebrate is absolutely wrong as well. We can disagree or question the methods of celebration but rejecting the notion don't make any sense, it's nonsense. Instead of giving fatwas we should understand the 'significance' this day.
Therefore, we should not be extremist, Islam is a religion of moderation, and we should follow the way of moderation. May Allah Almighty guide us all and bless us with true understanding of Islam. Aameen🤲🏻
