Nirbhay Bharat Foundation Joins Hands with Jammu & Kashmir Police to Combat Drug Abuse
In a significant step towards creating a drug-free Jammu & Kashmir, Tarun Uppal, Chairman of Nirbhay Bharat Foundation, met with Deputy Inspector General Shri Shridhar Patil today to discuss the ongoing social challenges and active support for the 100-day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir campaign.
During their meeting, Uppal emphasised the urgent need for close cooperation between civil society and law enforcement agencies to tackle the rising substance abuse problem in the region. Committing the foundation's resources, he outlined plans to mobilize volunteers, conduct awareness programs, and promote preventive education across schools, colleges, and local communities throughout the campaign period and beyond.
“Drug addiction threatens the health, safety, and future of our youth,” said Tarun Uppal. “We stand ready to work hand-in-hand with DIG Patil and law enforcement to make Jammu & Kashmir a drug-free Union Territory. Our foundation will contribute volunteers, training, and community outreach to ensure the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan succeeds in protecting families and rebuilding lives.”
Deputy Inspector General Shridhar Patil welcomed this collaborative approach, highlighting the essential role that public-private partnerships play in addressing complex social issues. Together, they discussed practical strategies—including coordinated awareness drives, regular screening camps, counseling services, and referral pathways to rehabilitation centers—to drive meaningful change.
Both parties agreed to a schedule of joint activities and community meetings designed to maintain consistent engagement and achieve measurable progress during the 100-day campaign.
This partnership signifies a strong commitment to safeguarding the youth and strengthening communities against the scourge of drug abuse in Jammu & Kashmir
