*LADY DRUG PEDDLER ARRESTED WITH 15.35 GRAMS HE**IN, CASH & GOLD ITEMS BY MIRAN SAHIB POLICE STATION, JAMMU*

Continuing its success against drug trafficking, Miran Sahib Police Station carried out a raid on the intervening night of 21st/22nd August 2025 following credible input from a reliable source.

During a well-coordinated search operation at the residence of *Vani Bibi, W/o Reham Ali, R/o Langotian, Tehsil R.S. Pura, Jammu, police recovered 15.35 grams of heroin-like substance, cash amounting to ₹1,00,720/- and gold items suspected to be proceeds of drug peddling.*

The operation was led by SHO Miran Sahib,Inspector Azad Manhas under the supervision of SDPO R S Pura and SP Headquarters Jammu and was conducted in the presence of the EMIC Marallian, ensuring transparency and legal formalities. The recovery marks yet another determined effort of Jammu Police in its ongoing war against the menace of narcotics.

*A case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Miran Sahib* and further investigation is underway to unearth the backward and forward linkages of the drug network.

Jammu Police reiterates its commitment to make the region free from the scourge of drugs and appeals to the public to extend their cooperation by sharing information about drug peddlers and smugglers.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday ordered the termination of two government employees from north Kashmir’s Kupwara district over their alleged involvement with the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba.

The employees have been identified as Khurshid Ahmed Rather, a teacher posted in Karnah, and Siyad Ahmad Khan, serving as Assistant Stockman in the Sheep Husbandry Department, Keran.

JMC hosts mega donation drive to encourage cleanliness, recycling, social responsibility

Jammu, August 21: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) organized a large-scale donation drive, demonstrating its commitment for promoting environmental sustainability, recycling, and social welfare in the city. The program witnessed active participation from all officers and officials of the Corporation, who brought household items including clothes, shoes, blankets, books, toys, and other essentials to contribute to the noble cause.

The event aimed to instill a sense of responsibility among citizens towards reducing waste and reusing usable materials, instead of discarding them irresponsibly in drains and rivers, which leads to pollution and environmental degradation. The initiative also emphasized the importance of recycling to build a cleaner and greener Jammu.

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Dr. Devansh Yadav said that such donation drives reflect the collective responsibility of citizens and civic authorities to ensure that usable items do not go to waste. Through RRR (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) Centers established at ward levels, local residents can now donate items easily, ensuring that they reach those who truly need them.”

He further announced that in the coming days, JMC, in collaboration with the District Administration, will organize similar donation campaigns across various departments to encourage wider participation from government employees and the public alike. These initiatives will also help in spreading awareness about responsible waste management practices throughout the city.

In addition to supporting the cause of recycling and reuse, the Corporation also announced a special relief measure for the victims of the tragic incident that recently occurred in Chashoti Paddar, Kishtwar. A dedicated team will soon be dispatched to the affected area to deliver essential items and support the families in need.

Joint Commissioner (Revenue and Enforcement) Subah Mehta, Joint Commissioner (Health and Sanitation) Abdul Sattar, Joint Commissioner (Administration) Rajiv Khajuria, Chief accounts Officer, Sandeep Singh, Secretary JMC Chand Singh, Health Officer JMC Dr. Vinod Sharma, AFO, Dr. Rabia Khan, VAS, JMC, I/C IEC, Dr. Divya Sharma along with other senior officers, were present during the drive and actively participated in the donation process.

The Commissioner appealed to the citizens of Jammu to come forward and contribute generously through the RRR Centers set up in their respective wards. “Together, with the active participation of every resident, we can transform Jammu into a city that is not only clean and green but also compassionate and socially responsible,” Dr. Yadav added.

Jammu Municipal Corporation continues to focus on innovative initiatives that combine environmental conservation with community welfare, thereby laying the foundation for a sustainable future.

The 56th Shat Chandi Mahayagya commenced today at Baba Sidhgoria Dham, Paloura, with a grand Jal/Kalash Yatra that filled the air with spiritual devotion. Under the guidance of Mahant Shri Kuldeep Singh Ji Paloura Wale, the sacred procession saw a massive turnout of devotees, officially launching the 11-day spiritual festival.
The procession began with women reverently carrying holy Kalash on their heads, embarking on a journey from the Dham to the canal near BSF Paloura. The two-hour yatra, filled with devotional zeal, concluded upon its return to the Dham, signifying an auspicious start to the festivities.
This Kalash Yatra marks the beginning of an 11-day spiritual conclave, encompassing the Mahayagya, Hawan Pujan, and Sant Samelan, running from August 21 to August 31, 2025. Following the Yatra, the day's rituals included the Mandal Pujan and Yagya from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
A key highlight of the festival will be the discourse on the Shrimad Bhagwat Katha by the esteemed Mahant Shri Dr. Satyanarayan Das Ji Maharaj. The Katha will be held daily from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, starting August 25 and concluding on August 31, 2025.

JOINT ENFORCEMENT DRIVE WITH GRP CONDUCTED

In a bid to maintain public safety and prevent potential security hazards, Sub-Divisional Traffic Police South Jammu led by DySP (Traffic) South Sh Faisal Rishu,JKPS in collaboration with GRP Jammu conducted a joint enforcement drive at Jammu Railway Station today.

A total of 24 vehicles, including 19 two-wheelers and 5 four-wheelers, were lifted from no-parking zones around the Railway Station premises. These vehicles were left unattended, causing congestion and compromising public safety.

In a remarkable achievement for the police, an absconder namely *Bharat Malhotra s/o Tilak raj r/o Nai Basti Jammu*, who was evading arrest for more than three decades, has finally been apprehended by the Nowabad Police District Police Jammu by police team led by SHO Nowabad,Inspector Nishant Gupta.
