ILLEGAL MINING CRACKDOWN INTENSIFIES: FOUR DUMPERS SEIZED DURING POLICE CHECKING IN DODA

Rajeev Rana
Bureau Chief, Chenab Region, Doda

Doda, July 29: Acting firmly against illegal mining and the unauthorized movement of mineral resources, Doda Police intensified its enforcement campaign by seizing four dumpers during separate checking operations conducted by Police Post Karara under the jurisdiction of Police Station Thathri.

During routine naka checking at Karara Naka, police intercepted a dumper bearing registration number JK06A-5387, driven by Irshad Hussain, son of Ghulam Nabi, a resident of Malnai, Berru, Bhaderwah. On inspection, the vehicle was found transporting mining dust without a valid E-Challan/Form-A, violating the prescribed mining regulations. The vehicle was immediately seized and taken into police custody at Karara Naka.

In another operation, police also stopped three 10-chakki dumpers bearing registration numbers JK02CU-6469, JK02CR-9969, and JK02CR-8169. The vehicles were being driven by Sanjeet Singh of Darsoo, Udhampur, Baldev Raj of Chappar, Dansal, Jammu, and Kaka Hussain of Naki, Majalta, Udhampur, respectively.

Verification of the documents revealed that the permits authorizing the transportation of mining material had expired. As the vehicles were operating without valid authorization, all three dumpers were seized and parked at Karara Naka for further legal proceedings.

Police have informed the District Mineral Officer (DMO), Doda to initiate action under the relevant provisions of the mining laws. The operation reflects Doda Police’s continued commitment to curbing illegal mining activities, ensuring lawful extraction and transportation of mineral resources, and protecting the region’s natural environment through strict enforcement measures.
