A joint search operation has been launched in the Dharni Top area of Basantgarh, Udhampur district, after locals claimed to have spotted three suspected terrorists moving through the region late last night.
According to ground reports, villagers noticed unusual movement in the forest belt and immediately informed the nearby police post. Soon after, Army, J&K Police, and CRPF teams swung into action, cordoning off the entire area and initiating an extensive search.
Senior officials confirmed to The Daily Truth News that the operation is being conducted in challenging terrain, surrounded by dense forest cover. Drone surveillance, sniffer dogs, and additional reinforcements have been pressed into service.
Sources from the area said, “The movement was seen around midnight. Security forces reached within minutes and began searching the higher reaches of Dharni Top.”
The operation is still underway as forces continue to comb the area. All approach routes have been sealed, and villagers have been advised to remain alert and avoid unnecessary movement until further instructions.
Local police have not ruled out the possibility that the suspects might be linked to infiltration attempts from higher reaches of the Pir Panjal range.
