Mahant Rohit Shastri Felicitated by Hon’ble Governor Of H.P
Meaningful Discussion Held on Promotion and Preservation of Sanskrit Language
Shimla/Jammu, 24 July.
Mahant Rohit Shastri, President of Shri Kailakh Jyotish avim Vedic Sansthan Trust, Jammu & Kashmir, and recipient of the State Award, paid a courtesy call today on Hon’ble Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla, at the Raj Bhavan in Shimla. On this occasion, a profound and constructive discussion was held on the preservation, promotion, and revival of the Sanskrit language.
During this special meeting, Hon’ble Governor felicitated Mahant Rohit Shastri in traditional Himachali style by presenting him with a 'Himachali Cap' and 'Himachali Shawl'—symbols of Himachal’s hospitality and cultural dignity. This honor was bestowed in recognition of Mahant Ji’s continuous contribution and public welfare efforts in the field of Sanskrit.
During the interaction, Mahant Rohit Shastri presented books published by the Trust to the Hon’ble Governor. He also provided detailed insights into the Trust’s various innovative initiatives such as the Mobile Sanskrit Gurukul, Sanskrit Dialogue Camps, Acharya Training Programs, Research Seminars, and Digital Sanskrit Education.
Mahant Shastri informed that the Trust is working to connect youth with Sanskrit through traditional learning as well as modern technological means. In addition, campaigns such as drug de-addiction, Ayurvedic medical camps, environmental awareness yatras, rural outreach programs, and various public welfare activities are among the Trust’s key priorities.
He also apprised that in the coming time, the Trust plans to extend the Sanskrit literacy campaign to the village level, expand Vedic schools, and work systematically toward the preservation and re-publication of ancient Vedic literature.
Hon’ble Governor Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla appreciated the creative, innovative, and impactful work being done by Mahant Rohit Shastri for the upliftment of Sanskrit and said, “Sanskrit is the cultural soul of India, and its preservation is the foundation of Indian identity and nation-building.” He termed the educational, cultural, and social efforts of Shri Kailakh Trust as exemplary and extended his best wishes and blessings for the future.
Mahant Rohit Shastri described the meeting as an inspiring and guiding experience, saying, “The guidance received from a learned, cultured, and sensitive personality like the Hon’ble Governor will give new direction and energy to our efforts. This honor is not just for me, but also an encouragement for all those serving Sanskrit.”
