30 days. Countless memories. ❤️

Nagaland wasn’t just another destination on my map. It became a journey that changed the way I see people, culture, and travel.

From the streets of Dimapur to the hills of Kohima, the warmth of Jotsoma Village, the peaceful roads of Jakhama, the inspiring story of Khonoma, the beauty of Kigwema and Viswema, the breathtaking trek to Dzükou Valley, the landscapes of Phek, the highest town of Pfutsero, the untouched beauty of Meluri, the remote mountains of Kiphire, and the unforgettable hospitality of Benreu Village… every place gave me a story that I’ll carry forever.

This is not goodbye.

I’ll be back during the Hornbill Festival to explore the remaining stories of Nagaland.

A heartfelt thank you to every local who welcomed me like family, and to everyone who helped make this journey unforgettable.

Special thanks to Land of festivals Incredible India Ministry of Tourism MDoNER MyGov, Government of India Temjen Imna Along MygovNagaland for promoting and preserving the incredible culture, heritage, and beauty of Nagaland.

KIPHIRE | The Heart of Eastern Nagaland 🏔️

Nestled in the hills of Eastern Nagaland, Kiphire is more than just a district headquarters. It is a town where culture, community, and nature come together in their purest form.

Known as the gateway to Mount Saramati, Nagaland’s highest peak, Kiphire offers an authentic glimpse into the traditions of the Sangtam, Yimchungrü, and Sümi Naga communities. Far from the usual tourist trail, this is a destination that invites you to slow down, connect with local life, and experience the true spirit of the Northeast.

Every road here carries a story, every landscape reflects resilience, and every interaction leaves a lasting impression. This is the side of Nagaland that deserves to be seen, understood, and celebrated.

My journey across all 16 districts and 17 major Naga tribes continues, documenting the people, culture, history, and hidden destinations that make Nagaland truly extraordinary.

Special thanks to

📍Meluri Town | Meluri District | Nagaland, India 🇮🇳

Welcome to Meluri, a peaceful hill town nestled in the easternmost part of Nagaland and the headquarters of the state’s newest district. Home to the Pochury Naga Tribe, Meluri is a destination where rich traditions, breathtaking landscapes, and genuine hospitality come together to create an unforgettable experience.

Away from the crowds and commercial tourism, this hidden gem offers a glimpse into a way of life that remains deeply connected to nature and cultural heritage. Every road, every hill, and every smile here tells a story that deserves to be seen and celebrated.

As I continue my journey across all 7 states of Northeast India, destinations like Meluri remind me that some of India’s greatest treasures are still waiting to be discovered.

If you’ve never heard of Meluri before, I hope this reel inspires you to explore beyond the usual tourist destinations.

📍 Phek Town, Nagaland 🇮🇳

A home that preserves generations of tradition.
A hill that once served as a watchtower.
A church that reflects the faith and spirit of the community.

This is Phek, where history, culture, and nature come together to tell a story unlike anywhere else in Northeast India.

Every road I travel reminds me that the true beauty of India isn’t just found in famous destinations, but in the people, their heritage, and the stories they proudly carry forward.

📍 Phek Town, Phek District, Nagaland, India 🇮🇳

Welcome to Phek, the cultural heartland of the Chakhesang Naga community and one of Nagaland’s most beautiful hill destinations.

Once known as Phekrekedze, meaning “Watch Tower”, this historic land is home to centuries-old traditions, breathtaking mountain landscapes, vibrant tribal culture, and stunning terraced paddy fields. Every road through Phek tells a story of heritage, resilience, and harmony with nature.

One of the most celebrated festivals here is SĂĽkrĂĽnyie, the traditional festival of the Chakhesang people, celebrated every January. It symbolizes purification, unity, renewal, and the preservation of their rich cultural identity.

This reel is part of my mission to explore every corner of Northeast India and bring you the untold stories of its people, culture, and hidden destinations.

“Come and be blessed” — that’s how Kigwema welcomes you, and Nagaland keeps that promise. 🌿

Misty mountains, endless rice terraces, morungs painted with stories older than memory, and smiles that need no language. From the viewpoints of Kigwema to the quiet pews of Viswema — this land doesn’t just show you views, it shows you a way of life. ⛰️✨

Walked through Nagaland’s story, one morung at a time 🏹

Kisama Heritage Village — the home of the Hornbill Festival — is where all 17 Naga tribes come together. Every hut here is built in the traditional style of a different tribe: the Sangtam Morung, the Garo Nokpante, the Kachari Nohdrang, each one carved with legends of warriors, harvests, and headhunters of old.

Between the log drums, the monoliths, and a tiny stone chapel wrapped in mist, this place feels less like a museum and more like a living memory. 🌿

I’m Vikram, and this time my journey brought me to the breathtaking Dzükou Valley, one of the most beautiful natural wonders in Northeast India. After the trek, the endless green meadows, peaceful streams, and fresh mountain air made every step completely worth it.
