More Than an Umbrella
- LEUMAS
It is important, first, to understand that men.....whether a father, brother, husband, or friend.....are not merely umbrellas in our relationships. An umbrella serves its purpose in the rain, but once the rain is gone, it is folded away and often becomes a burden.
Men are more like the sky, open and wide, showering love, affection, and warmth, while giving space for dreams to fly. They protect from the outer world, ensuring that peace is not easily disturbed. They show how one can shine like the stars on the darkest nights. And yes, at times, they can be harsh, dull, or gloomy...splashing words that drain a day of its brightness.
Yet even this serves a purpose. Growth is never nurtured by sunshine alone. Just as every plant absorbs every drop of rain to grow and be strengthened, relationships too require seasons of challenge. The men around us may strike like a thunderstorm, not out of cruelty, but because balance and adjustment are part of nature itself.
Men are often silent in expressing love, but silence does not mean absence. They do not stop loving or caring. If we learn to see men as clouds rather than umbrellas, we may understand them better.....because they were never meant to be carried, only to shelter and sustain.
