In a major shift in policy, the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) is set to reintroduce the one-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and Master of Education (M.Ed) programs, beginning with the 2026-27 academic year. This change arrives nearly ten years after the courses were lengthened to two years, aiming to create a more efficient pathway for aspiring educators.

This initiative is in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the University Grants Commission's National Higher Education Qualifications Framework. This revival is influenced by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

out of 180 countries in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) for 2024 as its overall score dropped a point to 38, according to a Transparency International report released on Tuesday.

The index, which ranks 180 countries and territories by their perceived levels of public sector corruption according to experts and business people, uses a scale of zero to 100, where "zero" is highly corrupt and "100" is very clean.

In 2024, India's overall score was 38 while it was 39 in 2023 and 40 in 2022. India's rank in 2023 was 93.

Among India's neighbours, Pakistan (135) and Sri Lanka (121) grappled with their respective low rankings, while Bangladesh's ranking stood further down at 149. China ranked 76.

1. Sukladhwaj was a great warrior of Koch Dynasty in the Kamata Kingdom and a younger brother of Nara Narayan.
2. He was Nara Narayan's commander-in-chief and chief Minister (Dewan) of the kingdom.
3. He got his name Chilarai because, as a general, he executed troop movements that were as fast as a chila (kite/Eagle).

The birth anniversary of Mahabir Chilaray or Sukladhvaz is organised by Government of Assam annually from 2005.
The Government also declares this day as state holiday. It is celebrated on the Purnima of Phagun Maah of Hindu Calendar.

Important note about Chilarai:

1. Born: 1510 AD
2. Died: 1571 AD
3. He was the 3rd son of Biswa Singha, the founder of Konch Dynasty.
4. Defeated Ahom in 1562 AD in the battle fought at the mouth of the DIKHOW and HANDIA rivers.
5. Under his patronage Treaty of Majuli was signed with AHOM in 1563 AD.
