National Youth Day observed with enthusiasm at Pragati College, Mailoo

, Jan 13: In a vibrant celebration marking National Youth Day and the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, the Mera Yuva Bharat Kendra, Diphu, Karbi Anglong operating under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India has successfully organized a special programme at Pragati College, Mailoo, in West Karbi Anglong. The event was held in collaboration with the Subaltern Development Club (NGO).
The programme commenced with a solemn floral tribute and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp before the portrait of Swami Vivekananda, led by Mrs. Sonam Chauhan, Principal of Pragati College. This traditional gesture set an inspiring tone for the day's proceedings.
The President of the Subaltern Development Club delivered the welcome address and extended warm felicitations to all guests.
A series of insightful speeches followed, focusing on the enduring relevance of Swami Vivekananda's philosophy. Dr. Shio Jee Chauhan, Assistant Professor in the Department of Hindi, spoke eloquently on the significance of National Youth Day and how Swamiji's ideas remain profoundly applicable to today's society.
Chhotelal Chauhan, Head of the Department of Hindi at Kapili College, delved into the philosophical vision of Swami Vivekananda and his invaluable contributions to Indian thought.
Jeetendra Harijan, Vice Principal of Kapili College, highlighted Swamiji’s teachings on youth empowerment, character building, and their vital role in nation-building, urging the young attendees to draw inspiration from these timeless principles.
The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including Dharmendra Singh, Vice Principal of Pragati College; Bhaganan Chauhan, a noted social worker; Sitaram Chauhan, Chairman of the Governing Body of Pragati College; and Dhanraj Harijan, former NSV, among other dignitaries.
The programme concluded on an uplifting note, with a powerful message calling upon the youth to embrace and embody the ideals of Swami Vivekananda. Participants were encouraged to strive toward building a strong, ethical, and progressive society through dedication, integrity, and service to the nation.
