Breaking news Karimnagar Traffic police have seized a motorcycle with 277 pending traffic challans amounting to ₹79,875. Officials said the action was taken after repeated violations of traffic rules despite several awareness drives.
The incident took place in the Sikhwadi area of Karimnagar during a routine inspection led by Traffic Inspector P. Ramesh.
The team stopped a Hero Unicorn and, upon checking records, discovered hundreds of violations committed between June 2019 and December 2024.
The rider was identified as Abdul Khayyum (37), an RMP practitioner from Godamgadda in Karimnagar. Out of the total challans, 264 were issued within the Karimnagar Traffic Police Station limits.
The offences included 254 for riding without a helmet, 10 for not wearing a mask, 7 for triple riding, 2 for using a mobile phone while driving, 2 for not carrying a licence, 1 for a defective number plate, and 1 for zigzag driving.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Yadagiriswamy stated that the rider's actions reflected a clear disregard for safety and traffic laws. The department has initiated legal proceedings to recover the ₹79,875 in fines. He warned that habitual offenders would face strict penalties and advised motorists to follow traffic rules, wear helmets, and drive responsibly.
