Former Australian special forces soldier Ben Roberts-Smith, Australia’s most decorated living veteran, was arrested at Sydney Airport Tuesday and charged with war crimes committed in Afghanistan.

He has been charged in connection to the murder of five unarmed civilians in Afghanistan between 2009 and 2012. According to Australian media reports, Roberts-Smith kicked a handcuffed man off a cliff before ordering him to be shot and once referred to the alleged ex*****on of an Afghan teenager as "the most beautiful thing I've ever seen."
