LG Manoj Sinha Leads Anti-Drug Padyatra in Ganderbal, Says Historic Movement Against Narco-Terrorism Has Emerged

Ganderbal, June 5:(KNC)Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today joined the Nasha-Mukt Jammu Kashmir Campaign in Ganderbal, participating in a massive padyatra alongside people from all walks of life and reiterating the administration’s resolve to eliminate drug abuse and narco-terrorism from the Union Territory.

Addressing a large gathering, the Lieutenant Governor said that after visiting every district in the Kashmir Valley and standing with participants in each anti-drug march, he could confidently state that a historic people’s movement against narco-terrorism has taken shape across Jammu and Kashmir.

Highlighting the achievements of the campaign over the past 55 days, Sinha said that 1,036 FIRs have been registered, 1,128 drug smugglers arrested, more than 100 properties attached, nearly 700 driving licences cancelled, and recommendations made for the cancellation of 130 passports of individuals involved in drug trafficking.

“Fifty-five days ago, from the soil of Jammu, I declared that enough is enough. What began as a war against drugs and narco-terrorism has now transformed into a true people’s movement driven by the collective will of ordinary citizens,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor assured comprehensive rehabilitation and support for those battling addiction, stating that treatment, counselling and employment opportunities would be provided to help them reintegrate into society with dignity.

Describing the anti-drug campaign as a social revolution rather than merely a government initiative, Sinha emphasized that the administration is committed to ensuring that drug smugglers and peddlers find no space in Jammu and Kashmir.

He warned that narco-terrorists, whether operating within the Union Territory or from across the border, are enemies of society and national security. “The money generated through drug trafficking is used to fund terrorism and purchase weapons. This is not just a crime issue but a direct threat to the future of our youth and the stability of our society,” he said.

Sinha asserted that those responsible for destroying the lives of young people would face strict legal action and severe punishment. He called upon mothers, sisters, daughters and the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to become active partners in the fight against drugs by safeguarding their communities, schools and colleges.

“I promise the people that narco-terrorists will no longer find refuge. Their days are numbered. Their networks will be dismantled one by one, and every narco-terrorist will be held accountable for their crimes,” he said.

On the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor also launched “Sindh Samvad,” a new podcast series, and felicitated winners of various competitions organised under the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan.

The event witnessed enthusiastic public participation, reinforcing the growing momentum of the anti-drug campaign across Jammu and Kashmir.(KNC)
