Gen NS Raja Subramani Takes Charge as India’s New Chief of Defence Staff
New Delhi, May 31: General NS Raja Subramani on Sunday assumed charge as India’s new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), succeeding General Anil Chauhan after the completion of his tenure.
A military strategist with extensive experience on matters related to Pakistan and China, Gen Subramani previously served as Military Adviser at the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) and retired as the Vice Chief of Army Staff.
After taking over as CDS, Gen Subramani stated that strengthening tri-services integration, accelerating military reforms, and implementing the theatre command structure would be among his top priorities. He also emphasized the need to boost the development, induction, and integration of indigenous defence technologies and weapon systems into the armed forces.
Assuring the nation of the armed forces’ commitment, Gen Subramani said that India’s military would continue to serve with dedication, professionalism, and courage while safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
As the new CDS, he is expected to play a key role in advancing military modernization and enhancing coordination among the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
