Entrepreneurship Awareness Boot Camp Organized at GDCW Kathua
Kathua, September 18:
Government Degree College for Women (GDCW) Kathua, in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), Kathua, organized an Entrepreneurship Awareness Boot Camp with the aim of fostering entrepreneurial spirit among students, particularly young women. The initiative was focused on empowering youth to become self-reliant, confident, and future-ready entrepreneurs.
The event was graced by dignitaries from JKEDI including Mr. Chand Kishore Sharma, Joint Director; Mr. Dheeraj Handoo, District Nodal Officer; Mr. Vir Pratap Singh, Faculty; and Mr. Raghubir Singh, Office Associate. Representatives from partner organizations — Mr. Nipun Sharma, District Manager, NABARD, and Mr. Deepak from J&K Bank — also attended the program and extended their support.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Dheeraj Handoo highlighted the objectives of the boot camp and the opportunities available for aspiring entrepreneurs in the region. Dr. Savi Behl, Principal of GDCW Kathua, underlined the importance of entrepreneurship education in shaping the future of students.
The program, organized under the aegis of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) led by Dr. Inderjeet Kour (Coordinator), witnessed enthusiastic participation of about 100 students who shared innovative ideas and expressed their entrepreneurial aspirations. The proceedings were moderated by Dr. Kamini Kapoor.
Faculty members including Prof. Yash Pal, Dr. Renu, Dr. Lakhwinder Singh, Dr. Poonam Sambyal, and Prof. Manjot Singh were also present and encouraged the participants.
This initiative forms part of the MoU signed between JKEDI and GDCW Kathua, reinforcing the shared vision of both institutions to promote entrepreneurship and skill development among students. The event concluded on a note of optimism, reaffirming the collective commitment of JKEDI, NABARD, J&K Bank, and GDCW Kathua to nurture entrepreneurial capacities among young women and empower them as future leaders.
