Kishtwar || Forest Department Seizes Illegal Deodar Timber in Thakraie, Vehicle Impounded
Kishtwar, August 27:
The Forest Department of Doda Forest Division, in coordination with Forest Range Thakraie, intensified its crackdown on illegal timber smuggling by conducting a naka during the intervening night in the Thakraie area of Kishtwar.
Acting on specific information, the naka was laid under the supervision of Range Officer Thakraie, Krishan Singh. During the operation, a vehicle was intercepted in the Dhara area of Thakraie. A substantial quantity of Deodar timber was recovered from the vehicle, following which the vehicle and the seized timber were taken into custody.
The seized vehicle was brought to the Forest Range Office, Kishtwar, for further legal proceedings. Kishtwar Police is also assisting in the matter, while necessary action is being initiated under the relevant provisions of the Forest Act.
Forest officials said the seized vehicle and timber will be handed over to the Doda Forest Division for further action as per law.
Range Officer Thakraie Krishan Singh said that the Forest Department would continue to take strict action against timber smuggling and illegal transportation of forest produce. He appealed to the general public to extend cooperation to the department and promptly share information regarding any such illegal activities.
The Forest Department reiterated its commitment to protecting the region’s valuable forest resources and maintaining strict enforcement against illegal felling, transportation and smuggling of timber.
