District Samba Fencing Championship 2025-26 Kicks Off with Enthusiasm

DDC Chairman Inaugurates Event; Inspires Youth to Excel in Sports

The two-day District Samba Fencing Championship 2025-26 commenced today at the Indoor Hall of Rani Suchet Singh Stadium, Samba, amid great enthusiasm and sporting spirit.

The event is being organized by the Samba District Fencing Association under the aegis of the Jammu & Kashmir Fencing Association (JKFA), an affiliated unit of the Fencing Association of India.

The championship was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Mr. Keshav Dutt Sharma, Chairman of the District Development Council (DDC) Samba. Also present were Mr. Dalvir Mehta, Manager, Sports Stadium Samba; Mr. Rahul Sharma, former fencing player; and members of the technical team — Vivek Sharma, Sahil Sharma, and Tarun Singh.

The competition aims to nurture local fencing talent and encourage youth participation in sports, providing a vital platform for emerging athletes from across the district to demonstrate their skills across various age categories.

In his inaugural address, Mr. Keshav Dutt Sharma lauded the efforts of the organizing committee and highlighted the role of sports in instilling discipline, teamwork, and a spirit of healthy competition among the youth. He urged the participants to give their best, play fairly, and bring laurels to the district.

*J&K POLICE KATHUA SEIZED 06 VEHICLES FOR ILLEGAL MINING WITHIN KATHUA DISTRICT.*

Kathua, October 16, 2025: Continuing its drive against illegal mining, J&K Police Kathua under the overall supervision of *SSP Kathua Ms. Mohita Sharma IPS* has seized a total of six vehicles i.e (05 dumpers & 01 Tractor alongwith Trolley) in the jurisdictional areas of Police Stations Lakhanpur, Hiranagar & Kathua which were being used for illegal transportation/mining of the construction material.

In the first instance, the Police team headed by SHO PS Hiranagar Insp. Ashish Sharma under the guidance of SDPO Boder while performing patrolling duty in its jurisdictional area, have seized two dumpers bearing registration Nos. JK21F-1892 , JK02BU-7787 which were being used for illegal transportation of the construction material in the area.
While in the second instance, Police team headed by SHO PS Lakhanpur Insp.Tariq Ahmed under the guidance of DySP DAR Kathua while performing patrolling duty in its jurisdictional area, have seized three Dumpers Reg. Nos: RJ19GD-9237,RJ50GA-5883, RJ21GB-8692 which were also being used for illegal transportation of the construction material in the area.Moreover police team led by IC Out Post Ghatti PSI Rajat Kotwal under the guidance of DySP Hqrs Kathua also seized one tractor trolley Reg. No. JK08H7502 indulged in transportation of mining material.

The above mentioned vehicles have been seized by J&K Police Kathua and handed over to the Geology & Mining Department, Kathua for further legal action. District Police Kathua
