India Post to End Registered Post Service from September 1, 2025

India Post has announced that its longstanding Registered Post service—a trusted mode of communication for over five decades—is being officially phased out starting September 1, 2025. Rather than entirely shutting it down, Registered Post functionality will be integrated into the more modern Speed Post system.

Over the past decade, use of Registered Post has dropped significantly—from 244.4 million items in 2011–12 to 184.6 million in 2019–20.

The move aims to streamline operations, boost tracking capabilities, and speed up service by hoisting all functionalities under Speed Post.
