🍜 *Homemade Chowmein Recipe | Street Style Veg Noodles at Home*
If you're craving spicy, tangy, and perfectly stir-fried noodles just like street-style chowmein, this homemade chowmein recipe is your perfect fix! Quick to make and loaded with fresh veggies, this dish is sure to be a family favorite.
🛒 *Ingredients*
*For Boiling Noodles:*
150 g Hakka noodles (or any plain noodles)
Water (to boil)
1 tsp oil
½ tsp salt
*For Chowmein Stir-Fry:*
2 tbsp oil (preferably sesame or sunflower)
1 tsp finely chopped garlic
1 tsp finely chopped ginger
2 green chilies, slit
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
½ cup shredded cabbage
½ cup julienned carrots
½ cup sliced capsicum (green bell pepper)
2-3 spring onions, chopped
*Sauces & Seasoning:*
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp red chili sauce
1 tbsp tomato ketchup
½ tsp vinegar (optional)
Salt to taste
½ tsp black pepper
¼ tsp sugar (optional)
👩🍳 *Instructions*
*Step 1: Boil the Noodles*
1. Bring water to a boil with salt and 1 tsp oil.
2. Add noodles and cook until 90% done (al dente).
3. Drain immediately and rinse with cold water to stop cooking.
4. Toss with ½ tsp oil to prevent sticking.
*Step 2: Stir-Fry the Vegetables*
1. Heat oil in a large wok or kadai on high flame.
2. Add garlic, ginger, and green chilies. Sauté for 30 seconds.
3. Add onions and cook for 1 minute until translucent.
4. Add cabbage, carrots, and capsicum. Stir-fry on high flame for 2–3 minutes. Keep them crunchy.
*Step 3: Mix in the Sauces and Noodles*
1. Add soy sauce, chili sauce, ketchup, vinegar, salt, pepper, and a pinch of sugar.
2. Toss well with vegetables.
3. Add boiled noodles and toss everything on high flame for 2–3 minutes until sauces coat the noodles well.
*Step 4: Final Touch*
1. Garnish with chopped spring onions.
2. Serve hot with ketchup, chili sauce, or schezwan chutney.
