🚨EU countries failed to agree on extending sanctions against roughly 3,000 Russian individuals and companies, leaving ambassadors one day to reach a deal before the measures expire.

Slovakia is demanding the removal of Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Fridman from the sanctions list while also resisting a proposal to extend sanctions from six months to 12 months.

Most EU capitals oppose removing anyone while Russian attacks on Ukraine continue.

🚨QatarEnergy has launched a tender to sell crude for October and November loading from Qatari ports located inside the Strait of Hormuz.

The offer includes Al-Shaheen, Qatar Marine and Qatar Land crude in 500,000-barrel cargoes. Qatar has not disclosed the total volume available. The tender closes Tuesday.

🚨SUDAN WAR UPDATE: Sudan is sliding toward partition.

The SAF army, led by Abdel Fattah al Burhan and supported by Muslim Brotherhood aligned militias, controls Khartoum and most of northern, eastern and central Sudan. The RSF, led by Hemedti, controls most of Darfur and operates a parallel government from Nyala.

Sudan is especially important because it sits along more than 800 kilometers of Red Sea coastline, overlooking the shipping route connecting the Suez Canal with Bab el Mandeb and the Indian Ocean

Neither side is close to total victory. The immediate danger is a permanent division between an army controlled east and an RSF controlled west.

🚨YEMEN AND SAUDI ARABIA: WHERE THINGS STAND

The Houthis have taken Mocha, Dhubab and Mayyun Island, giving them positions along both sides of the Bab al Mandeb. They have also deployed forces to Zuqar and the Hanish Islands farther north.

The Houthis now threaten the Red Sea route Saudi Arabia increasingly depends on after Iran closed Hormuz. Traffic through Bab al Mandeb has already fallen 46%, while oil prices have climbed above $100.

🚨A DF-15 ballistic missile of Chinese origin was reportedly discovered in Marib, Yemen. The Houthis are not known to operate the system and rely largely on Iranian-made missiles. Some people believe it may mark Saudi Arabia’s first combat use of the DF-15A, following Riyadh’s documented secret purchases of Chinese ballistic missiles such as the DF-3A and DF-21.
