🇮🇳 Godrej delivers the first serially produced DRDO-designed and Indian industry-manufactured "Dry Kaveri" Jet Engine; It successfully produced a stabilized thrust of 49KN in its last iteration.

With this India has joined the elite club of nations capable of producing its own indigenous turbofan engines. The first unit (Kaveri Dry) has been designated as D1.

🛑 Furthermore, A Tejas MK-1 aircraft is going under modifications to test fly the Kaveri Engine with the after burning section from Brahmos Aerospace 🤞🤞

🛑 Note: If everything goes well don't think we can immediately change the American engines; It will take a minimum of 5 years to mature.

🇮🇳🇫🇷 Safran has submitted a proposal to produce engine for Tejas MK-2 fighter jets

🔹Various parameters of the Safran proposal, its engines are being studied by DRDO, no decision taken yet

🔹GE F-414 engine has not been junked; Search 🔍 🔍 for an alternative.

🛑 It is not a new offer from the Safran; Their offer is backed by the pre-existing M88-4 engine prototype which produces 105KN thrust; We have to pay for the certification & trials of that engine.

🛑 This offer has been lying in the MoD for years, But those Babu's didn't have enough time to go through that proposal; Pathetic state of affairs.

🔹Safran had submitted a proposal for setting up an entire eco-system of manufacturing engine in India with two engines: one for LCA AF MK-2 & the other for AMCA.

🔹A change of engine at this stage would entail a design change in the plane’s structure, as each engine has a different air-intake angle, thrust & power dynamics.(Not a new phenomenon; Prototypes can be done around GE-F414 & production around the Safran engine. Note: Development of Rafales was also done in this manner; prototypes were built around GE-F404 & the production is done around M-88).
