When we think of Indian cricketing legends, names like Sachin Tendulkar, Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah naturally come to mind. Their contributions to Indian cricket are undeniable, but there's one name that deserves equal recognition for his sheer brilliance on the fieldโRavichandran Ashwin.

With over 500 Test wickets, he is not only one of the most prolific bowlers of our generation but also a genuine all-rounder who has delivered with the bat time and again. His ability to consistently contribute in both departments of the game sets him apart from most others.
When Bangladesh had India under the pump yesterday, this man stood tall and hammered 112 runs, adding 199 runs for the seventh wicket with Ravindra Jadeja. India were reeling at 144/6 and his partnership with Jadeja helped India to post a good total of 376. It was another great knock, a perfect rescue act in crisis, like he has pulled off numerous times during his career, both at home and in overseas conditions.
To put it simply, Ashwin is a match-winner. Whether itโs turning the game on its head with his spin bowling magic or standing tall with the bat under pressure, Ashwin has done it all. His tactical acumen, the variations he brings to his bowling, and his understanding of the game are unparalleled.
Yet, in the larger narrative, we donโt seem to celebrate his contributions enough. Perhaps it's time we give Ashwin the credit he truly deservesโon par with the greats we've idolized over the years. ๐
