Tragic news from North Carolina — Brett James, the Grammy-winning Nashville songwriter best known for co-writing Carrie Underwood’s hit “Jesus, Take The Wheel,” has died in a small plane crash.

The Cirrus SR22T aircraft, registered to James, went down near Franklin, NC on Thursday afternoon. All three people on board were killed. Thankfully, no one on the ground was injured.
