A trip through the Sikkim Silk Route is a journey through high-altitude passes, ancient trade trails, and breathtaking Himalayan landscapes. Because the route reaches altitudes of over 13,000 ft, this 4-night itinerary is designed to help you acclimatize properly by starting at lower elevations.
Sikkim Silk Route Itinerary (4 Nights / 5 Days)

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Ichcha Gaon
* Morning: Pick up from NJP Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport. Drive toward Ichcha Gaon (approx. 4-5 hours)
* Afternoon: Ichche Gaon is a small hamlet with about 30 families. After lunch, take a Nature Walk through the surrounding Cinchona and Pine forests. One can see beautiful Kanchenjunga from Ichcha Gaon.
* Evening: At night, look across the valley to see the sparkling lights of Darjeeling, Ravangla, and Namchi on the opposite hills.
* Stay: Homestay in Ichcha Gaon.
Day 2: Ichcha Gaon to Padamchen via Aritar
* Morning: After breakfast, depart for Padamchen. Proceed to Rongli to process your Inner Line Permits (carry Voter ID and 4 passport-size photos). You can shop at Rongli Market.
* Stop at Kuekhola Waterfalls and then reach Padamchen.
* Stay: Homestay in Padamchen.
Day 3: The High Altitude Silk Route Trail
* Early Morning: After breakfast start moving toward Thambi View Point (11,200 ft). You'll see the iconic Zig-Zag Road with its 99 hairpin bends.
* Nathang Valley: A high-altitude plateau often called the "Ladakh of East Sikkim."
* Old Baba Mandir: The original bunker of martyr Baba Harbhajan Singh.
* Kupup Lake: Also known as Elephant Lake due to its shape. See the World’s Highest Golf Course nearby.
* After all sightseeing, return to Padamchen.
( You can visit Nathula Pass & Changu Lake if weather and road permits. If have to paid extra directly to the Driver for this two sightseeing & permits )
Day 4: Descent to Rishikhola
* Morning: After a relaxed breakfast, begin your descent toward the West Bengal-Sikkim border.
* En route, visit Vinayak Mandir & Lampokhari Lake (Aritar Lake), the oldest natural lake in Sikkim.
* Afternoon: Reach Rishikhola (or Reshikhola), a riverside retreat situated on the banks of the Rishi River.
* Activities: Spend the afternoon by the river. It’s a perfect spot for birdwatching, dipping your feet in the crystal-clear water, or a short forest walk.
* Evening: Enjoy a bonfire by the riverside (weather permitting).
* Stay: Riverside Homestay in Rishikhola.
Day 5: Departure to NJP / Bagdogra
* Morning: Have breakfast by the river. Take one last walk through the valley.
*Start your return journey to NJP or Bagdogra (approx. 4–5 hours). It is recommended to keep some buffer time for traffic or road conditions
