Ever heart of Stock Split? 🤔

• Here is what it is:

It's basically dividing 1 share into multiple shares. With the share the share price also gets divided.

So If you had 50 shares of a company at LTP Rs.500 and they do a 2:1 stock split, you'll now have 100 shares but the share price will also get halved ie. Rs. 250.

Your effective money in the company stays the same before and after. (25,000 in the above case)

• Then what's the use of this?

A company does this to make their share price more affordable.

So if a company is splitting their stock, that means they have done really well in the past and their stock price skyrocketed!

• So no extra profit to an Investor?

In short term, because the stock became more affordable and it's in the news, the demand will increase and you can see spikes in the price.

But, in long term you'll see no notable effect in the stock.
