Imran Shah Launches Strong Critique of Past Regime; Calls for a Comprehensive Development Roadmap for Anantnag
"Urges Immediate and Coordinated Efforts to Transform Anantnag into a Model Town"
Anantnag, Oct 12: Senior National Conference (NC) leader and District Vice President Anantnag, Syed Imran Shah, has strongly criticized previous governments for what he described as “total neglect of Anantnag town on the developmental front.”
Shah accused earlier regimes of making hollow claims while engaging in nepotism in the awarding of contracts, which, according to him, were often granted to relatives and party loyalists. This alleged favoritism, he said, has resulted in poor infrastructure, particularly evident in the recent floods that exposed the town’s failed drainage system.
During his tour of Sarnal Bala and Mohalla Shah Sahib Malakhnag, Shah expressed serious concern over the dilapidated condition of drainage and roads, urging the administration to take immediate steps for renovation and repair.
He also called for the widening of the Mattan Adda–Sarnal Bala road and improvements to interior town roads to ease traffic congestion and improve commutation. Additionally, Shah demanded the renovation of the Malakhnag spring to restore its historic and environmental significance.
Emphasizing the importance of heritage preservation and tourism, Shah further demanded the restoration of the Sherbagh Canal through innovative development measures. He urged the government to complete ongoing and pending projects in Anantnag to revive the town’s “pristine glory” and enhance its appeal as a tourist destination.
